Allow Umlaut/Special Characters in Email-Addresses

Dear all,
I'm adding the idea regarding a regular issue with Umlaut in E-Mail-Addresses (also see my cases 00718616, 00731501 and your enhancement request 00719518).
We are regularly encountering cases of upload error from Campaign to WCA due to Umlaut/Special Characters in the email-address such as xxxxx@diemüllers.at or xxxxxx@kirchbäck.at

As we're operating in the DACH-region, this is currently and will continue to be an issue for us and especially our clients as Umlaut and special characters are allowed in domain-names.

    When will this be done? This should not only be considered based on upvotes on an idea (I only saw very few ideas get done anyway). Since US customers most likely are not really affected, it won't get as many upvotes as it deserves but is really important for us in the DACH-region.
