I recently sent a mailing from our database and 34% of a list of about 2k ended up being suppressed from the mailing. I used a Contact List that originally was provided from an external datasource, so when I uploaded the Contact list it told me 2k names were uploaded. Looking further into those that were suppressed (about 700), a majority were not sent the email bc they were on the MASTER SUPPRESSION due to the email addresses being marked as Undeliverable.
Problem is, within my Contact List and Database these people look like they are active since their status is still 'Opted In'. Since at the deepest level WCA knows a contact is Undeliverable, why are these email addresses allowed to still be added to Contact Lists and appear Active / Opted In? Since the mailing list always gets scrubbed by the MASTER SUPPRESSION, these Undeliverables will never remove themselves again as a mailing will not be Sent to them.
There has to be a way to clean these up in an automatic way or prevent them from being added to your Database / Contact list with at least flagging they are Undeliverable or previously marked Undeliverable. Right now I have 700 contacts that I prefer not removing manually from my send source, if I don't have to.
