Image Profiles at the moment only support Cropping. However there are a lot more capabilities that could be used for image handling. See http://tech.akamai.com/image_converter/. Today these capabilities can only be used by a skilled technician who implements this into the application code.

The use case of Jumo

In the case of Jumo they want to use WCH as their DAM for image assets. Therefore they require to upload an image in the highest quality (PNG) used for web and let WCH do the image optimisation for the specific use cases via Image Profiles. This includes the requirements to set a specific image quality, downsize the image but keeping the aspect ratio & change the image format from PNG to JPEG if transparency is not needed. Their expectation was that this can be defined by the content author through image profiles. (And Carlos can just take the right "rendition" based on the requirements)
