There is great flexibility in creating ad-hoc reports in the number of combinations possible but the amount of time needed for them to render is inconsistent. Sometimes I need to return to a session later in the day to see the results at which point I may want to make a slight change and re-run the query and then come back again. This workflow negates the implied immediacy of 'ad-hoc' reporting.
