Currently, Heatmap is a display option from the Topline report. When on the Topline report, you can segment the data. You can also change display to remove the graphs, see the data in the old format or just the graph. All of those options maintain the Segment you applied. If, however, you choose to look at the Heatmap, not only does the option to select a Segment disappear, but the segment you have applied is removed. Yet when clicking back to the other display options it is still listed. The only way to see that this is happening (since all of the data is averaged) is to try to look at different segments by going to another option , changing your segment and going back and looking at the same metrics in the Heatmap for that segment. This can cause bad business decisions as the data is not what you think you are looking at. The Heat Map should either allow for segments (preferred) or be an entirely separate report. If it is changing your selected data then you are not simply looking at a different display of your report but rather a different report altogether.
How will this idea be used?
Having completely incorrect data for what you believe is a segment can be detrimental to your business. This will be used in measuring the behavior of segments throughout a day/week. It will answer questions like "Do new customers interact with your tool the same way as repeat customers"? or "Do customers in this app behave the same as customers in this other app?" |
