Today's possibilities for preference centers are inconsistent (quite different, depending on the type of database) and not secure. Also, managing several landing pages in the same site tends to cause way too much errors.
Prefcenters should get fully integrated with opt-out possibilities. (note: opt-out should be redesigned too for more security and more options) It would be nice to have them integrated in a system for the self-management of user accounts.
How will this idea be used?
In the tool we used before Acoustic, we had some reports of people getting opted-out regularly without them having done it. We found that many people forward e-mails to other people, who then adapt preferences of the original receiver of the e-mail, or make choices on a landing page for them. A better secured preference center or an account with (two-step) verification would greatly enhance customer experience. |
