Ability to Add Custom Meta Data Fields to Assets

We would like to attach meta data fields beyond tags and categories to include fields such as the date an asset was last requested from one of our websites in order to automate usage tracking. Another example, would be to maintain a list of website URLs where the asset is being called. Due to the nature of that data, we do not want to use categories or tags for this information as this would add data clutter. Ideally, we would use automation scripts to populate this data and be able to view / filter this data via the web UI.

Some suggestions for doing this now

    (1) Use tags for this use case. You could prefix the tag like metadata:xxx to help group them together.

    (2) Have a content item that is modelled to provide information about the asset. So, every asset has a 'partner' content item that contains the metadata. They could be linked together via a image element. The API could be used to create/populate this item. Webhooks could be used to auto-create/populate the partner content item whenever an asset is created in the system.
