When sending mailings using pooled IPs, you are unable to accurately monitor performance of the individual IPs within the pool as you do not know which contacts were sent to from which IP.
One solution for this problem could be to add an optional parameter to the raw recipient export.
If a parameter was added to the Raw Recipient Data export API call, that meant an additional column was populated with which IP/VMTA the send event came from, this would allow accurate reporting on the performance on the IPs to be carried out.
How will this idea be used?
Using the raw recipient export we are able to monitor the performance of individual IP addresses when sending mailings from only one IP. We are able to accurately report on all the key deliverability metrics by IP, including Bounces, Open Rates, Opt outs etc. This process does require manual work to associate contact source queries with each IP, through naming conventions or otherwise, so having this information logged would also help in this use case. However when sending from a pool of IPs you have no idea which contacts were sent to from which IP. Therefore it is not easily possible to diagnose which IP addresses are having problems and what the source of those issues might be. You are unable to report on key deliverability metrics by IP, including Bounces, Open Rates, Opt outs etc. as you have no idea which IP the events came from. At a minimum you need to know which IP the send event occurred on, but knowing this info for other event types would make the reporting queries more straightforward.
This is of particular concern when you encounter issues with deliverability and looking for solutions to understand and address the issues. These are usually critical times where revenue is being impacted. |

This is something we'll consider as an attribute for the email channel events we publish to Exchange. The Exchange multi-channel events are the latest and most complete way to get message responses from Campaign.
As pools become more prevalent with inbox providers becoming more stringent with their rules, this will be of huge value.
