Reporting for Program activity is cumbersome. We use dynamic templates heavily and there isn't a way to know which version of the email was sent, to which variables - and we have to hack the reporting URL with the ' i ' to understand how *one* day went. It would be better to run the template for a date range to get all the same information. The dynamic templates have area names, reporting for that would be a good place to start.
